Sep 21, Kathmandu - A public bus driver set his own vehicle on fire inside Tripureshwor on Sunday. The driver, 25-year-old Dawa Lama, ignited the blaze while seated inside the bus, which was reportedly empty at the time.

According to police, Lama, who was operating bus number BA 5 KHA 4274, caused a fierce fire after setting it alight inside the vehicle. No passengers were present during the incident. The flames rapidly engulfed the bus, prompting immediate response from fire services, who arrived promptly and controlled the fire.

Lama sustained burns from the self-inflicted fire and was rushed to the Burn Hospital in Kirtipur for treatment. His current health status remains unclear, pending further updates.

The exact motive behind Lama’s act remains unknown. Initial speculation suggests he might have been upset following a dispute with traffic police, which could have triggered such a drastic step. Authorities have launched further investigations to determine the reasons behind the incident.
