Sep 26, Kathmandu - The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology reported 114 millimeters of rain at the Bharsé weather station in Gulmi district over the past 12 hours.

In its 6:30 a.m. update, the department said some areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces had received heavy to very heavy rainfall. Many places in Koshi, Madhesh and Bagmati provinces recorded light to moderate rain.

This afternoon, thunderstorms and moderate rain or snowfall are likely across much of the Himalayan and hilly areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim, as well as many Himalayan and hilly areas of Koshi and Bagmati. Moderate rain with thunder and lightning is also possible in parts of the southern plains.

Heavy to very heavy rain is forecast at a few locations in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim, with heavy rain possible at one or two places in Koshi and Bagmati. Some areas of the plains could also experience strong winds.

Tonight, rain or snowfall with thunderstorms is likely across much of the Himalayan and hilly regions of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim, and in parts of Bagmati and Koshi. Moderate rain is also possible in several southern plains areas.

The department warned of heavy to very heavy rain at a few locations in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim, and at one or two places in Madhesh. Isolated areas of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim could receive extremely heavy rainfall. Strong winds are also possible in parts of the plains of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini.
