Oct 31, Kathmandu - Members of a visiting Chinese literary and cultural delegation have been honored in Nepal. They were recognized during a cultural event organized here by the Devkota, Lu Xun Academy and the SS Foundation.
The delegation members were honored by the Foundation’s patron, lyricist Shobhit Upreti; the Foundation’s president, senior artist Madandas Shrestha; and the Academy’s vice-chancellor, Matrika Pokharel.
The literary and cultural delegation from the People's Republic of China is led by Zhou Lingfei—the president of the Lu Xun Cultural Foundation and grandson of the world-renowned writer Lu Xun.
Patron Upreti stated that the visit of the Chinese cultural and literary team would foster greater collaboration between the two nations in these sectors. Academy Vice-Chancellor Pokharel expressed his belief that the visit would contribute to the mutual understanding and development of each other's cultures, literature, and civilizations.
President Shrestha highlighted the unique nature of Nepal’s art and culture, emphasizing the need for mutual cooperation and support in these fields. The event featured performances of *Kauda*, *Hudkyouli*, and Newari dances, which reflect the distinct identity of Nepal.
The 15-member Chinese delegation also visited several sites of historical and archaeological significance within the Kathmandu Valley, including Patan Durbar Square. Earlier on Friday, the team was also welcomed by the Nepal Academy.
