Nov 01, Kathmandu - Aditya Paswan, who was seriously injured by gunfire during a clash over the opening of a health center in Pheta Rural Municipality–3, Bara, is receiving treatment at TU Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu.
Hospital information officer Kaliprasad Rosyara said Paswan is in the intensive care unit and his condition is stable.
Bara Assistant Chief District Officer Chhabiraman Bhattarai said Paswan was airlifted to Kathmandu at 11:40 a.m. Monday. “He was shot near the waist. The bullet has been removed, and treatment is ongoing,” Bhattarai told Ratopati.
The rural municipality had organized an opening ceremony on Saturday morning for the health center built by the federal government. Tensions escalated after locals opposed to Rural Municipality Chairperson Rustam Ansari vandalized a plaque at the site. A dispute between Ansari’s supporters and the opposing locals turned into a clash, during which police reportedly fired shots to bring the situation under control.
