Finland Invites 16 Singles Worldwide to Free “Blind Dinner Date” Adventure

Nov 01, Kathmandu - Finland is offering single adults around the world a chance to enjoy a memorable blind dinner date—and sample the country’s local cuisine—on an all-expenses-paid trip.

The Finnish tourism board, Visit Finland, has launched the “Finnish Dinner Date” campaign to promote the country’s food culture and bring potential couples together. Sixteen selected participants will travel to Finland from February 9 to 19, 2027, with opportunities to meet local singles over special group dinners in Helsinki and Tampere, in the Lakeland region.

Guests will taste traditional dishes featuring fresh wild fish, local berries and foraged mushrooms, prepared by some of Finland’s top chefs.

According to Heli Jimenez, international marketing director at Business Finland, food is an important way to experience the country’s happiness, nature and connections between people. The campaign is inspired by “Sinkkukuri,” a popular Finnish dating trend in which single shoppers carry pink baskets at supermarkets to signal they are open to meeting someone.

Visit Finland says Finnish cuisine remains less familiar internationally than Italian, Chinese and other Nordic food, despite its distinctive culinary traditions—from dishes linked to sauna culture to food gathered from nature. Jimenez said visitors could leave with a taste of Finnish food, memories of the country—or perhaps a new connection.

Single people aged 18 and over from any country except Finland may apply individually. Applications close at 11:59 a.m. Finnish time on November 10, 2026. The 16 selected participants will be announced on Visit Finland’s official social media accounts, including Instagram and TikTok, on December 1.

Visit Finland will cover the winners’ flights, accommodation, activities and meals. To apply, candidates must record a short video in English answering: “What dish would you serve on a dinner date, and why?” They must post it publicly on TikTok, Instagram or YouTube, tag Visit Finland and use the hashtag #FinnishDinnerDate.
