Celebrating the second memorial day of Bharat Mohan Adhikari

March 2, Kathmandu- A second memorial day is being observed in the memory of the senior leftist leader and former deputy prime minister, and finance minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari.

CPN (Maoist) Chairman and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal is the chief guest at the memorial meeting to be held in Biratgarh on Tuesday organized by Bharat Mohan Adhikari's Memorial Foundation and co-organized by Bishnumaya Library.

Nepal is also the patron of the foundation. On the occasion, Lima Adhikari, daughter of Adhikari, a member, and official of the foundation, said that the late Adhikari would discuss Nepal's contribution to the political transformation, political economy, and social transformation through the leftist movement, honoring senior communists and senior citizens and announcing the province-1 committee of the foundation.

Adhikari, who was born to father Ram Chandra and mother Purnakumari in Bhramarpura, Mahottari on May 3, 137 A.D.,  died at the age of 82 on 2 March 2019 A.D.

Adhikari had studied law and economics in depth. Adhikari, who has an MA in Economics and a BL in Law, was a well-known lawyer during the Panchayat period.

Adhikari had made a significant contribution in the drafting of the constitution by being in the constitution drafting committee of 3991 A.D. In 1995 A.D, , Bharat Mohan was the Finance Minister in the Manmohan Adhikari-led minority government.
