In Final Stage Of  Substation,15,000 Trees Have To Be Cut Down For The Extend line

April 11, Kathmandu-  15,000 local community forest trees will be cut down in the area of ​​the New Butwal Bardaghat 220 KW transmission line, which is being invested by the Government of Nepal.


Information Officer of New Butwal Bardaghat 220 KW Transmission Line and Substation Project Ashok Pokharel said that the construction of 220 KW transmission line substation under construction at Sunwal Badera in West Nawalparasi has reached the final stage and in the second phase, a large number of trees will be cut down in the area to be extended.


According to Pokharel, the transmission line has been planned to be taken from the foot of Chure hill north of the East-West Highway from the substation of New Butwal Bardaghat 220 KW transmission line, which has reached the final stage of construction in Ward No. 12 Badera of Sunwal Municipality. Most of the community forest is in the area where this transmission line will be taken and 15,000 big trees will be cut down from that area. It is said that the transmission line will pass through Bardagoria of Sunwal Municipality, Ward No. 1, 2 of Sarawal Village Municipality, and Ward Nos. 2, 4, 5, and 10 of Wardaghat Municipality.


The area to be extended will include Chisapani Community Forest, Badera Community Forest, Baba Bardagoria Community Forest, Bhagwati Community Forest, Community Forest from Kotai to Community Forest, Dumbarbhar Community Forest and 15,000 large trees will have to be cut down from these areas.


The transmission line will be constructed by crossing the distance of 21 km from Sunwal to the Bardaghat substation. The number of trees to be cut in the transmission line extension area has been completed. It is said that this transmission line is being constructed with an investment of around Rs. 650 million by the Government of Nepal.


The contract for the construction of this transmission line project has been awarded to Power China Sepco One Electric Power Construction Company. It is said that an agreement has been reached to complete the construction of this project within the fiscal year 2021/22 A.D. There will be 60 towers in the transmission line that is being constructed after covering a distance of 21 km from Sunwal to Bardaghat substation.


After the construction of this substation and transmission line, the work of transmission of electricity from Nawalparasi, Butwal, Bhairahawa, and other areas will be easier when the electricity coming from the Kalidandaki basin is connected to the national transmission line.

The project will solve the problem in the operation of the industry in the area from West Nawalparasi, which is being developed as an industrial area, to Bhairahawa through the bypass road.
