Journalist Nandaram Poudel Dies in Road Accident

April 13, Kathmandu- Kapilvastu journalist Nandaram Poudel died in a road accident on Tuesday evening.

Poudel, who was on his way home from Buddhabhumi after editing and setting up Buddhaavaj magazine in Banganga Jitpur of Kapilvastu, met with an accident. He was on his way home on a motorcycle (Lu 59 Pa 6441) when he was hit by a truck (Na 4 Kha 6217) on the East-West Highway at Chappargaun in Banganga, according to the Lumbini State Traffic Police Office, Butwal. His upper body was injured in the truck crash.

According to the police, the driver of the truck that hit him has fled away. 

According to Kapilvastu Police, Poudel's body is being taken to Toulihawa District Hospital for postmortem.

Poudel was defeated as the treasurer of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Lumbini, on April 9. According to Poudel's son, his last rites will be performed at Kapilvastu's Laxmanghat on Wednesday.
