European Super League Announced

April 19, Kathmandu- A new football competition in Europe, the European Super League (ESL), has been announced. The top 12 clubs in Europe announced the European Super League on Sunday.

Founded with Florentino Perez as president of Spanish club Real Madrid, the founding club of the Super League has the top six clubs in the English Premier League. From the Premier League are Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham.

There are also Barcelona, ​​Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid from Spain and Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan from Italy. It is also said that 15 more clubs will be added to the founding club. Fifteen founding clubs and 20 more clubs are preparing to compete for the Super League based on their performance in the league.

The Super League is set to begin this season in August. The 20 participating clubs will be divided into two groups. The top three clubs in both groups will advance directly to the quarterfinals. The fourth and fifth will play in the playoffs.

ESL has said it will hold talks with FIFA, the world's governing body for football, and UEFA, the governing body of European football, for the new tournament. But FIFA and UEFA have threatened to ban ESL clubs and players. UEFA has already stated that it will not host the tournament and that players participating in the tournament will not be allowed to play international games.
