Will Trump's Ban On Facebook Be Lifted? Delay In Decision

April 19, Kathmandu- Facebook's so-called Supreme Court oversight board has delayed making a final decision on whether to lift the ban on former US President Donald Trump over Facebook and Instagram.

Trump and Facebook banned Trump in January after violence erupted inside the US House of Representatives. The Oversight Board said the decision was delayed because it took time to review more than 9,000 responses to the Trump ban.

Earlier, it was announced that a decision on Trump sanctions would be announced on April 21, but that date has been confirmed. The final decision will be announced in the next few weeks, the board said in a statement on Twitter.

The decision by the Monitoring Board on the indefinite ban imposed on Trump by Facebook and Instagram is considered to be the biggest and far-reaching decision since the board was formed.

Facebook had set up an autonomous and supreme monitoring board to review and make the final decision on the most difficult or controversial decisions made by Facebook about its users.

The 20-member board includes politicians, journalists, human rights activists, lawyers, and professors from around the world. Among them are four co-chairs, including former Danish Prime Minister Halle Thorning-Schmidt.

So far, the board has ruled in nine different cases.
