Teachers' Protest Inspect Of Corona Pandemic With 34-Point 

May 6, Kathmandu- Federation of Nepali Teachers (FNT) has protested against the non-implementation of the agreement reached with the Government of Nepal on the issues of professional development, rights, and security of teachers.

Despite repeated calls for teachers' rights and professional security, the government has not shown any sensitivity, protesting against the federation as per the central program. The federation has submitted a 34-point protest letter to the Education Development and Coordination Unit Khotang on Thursday saying that it is obstructing the process of regular promotion of teachers and service entry by stopping the appointment of officials of the Teachers Service Commission.

A team of teachers led by FNCCI Khotang vice-president Jayanti Rai handed over a letter of protest to Education Development and Coordination Unit Chief Semanta Gautam despite the uneasy situation of Covid-19 pandemic.

The federation has decided to invest 20 percent of the total budget in the education sector for the development of quality education in the country. Federal Education to be held in a federal structure, Nepal Federation of Teachers as an official trade union of teachers and school staff, arrangement of teaching council, transfer of teachers within the district and inter-district transfer by local level and unit on the recommendation of the education system, uniformity in all schools. It has demanded to specify the form in the act.

Similarly, to make constitutional arrangements for the development of school education, to immediately increase the appropriate salaries of teachers and staff of children's classes, to stop the process of drafting local level education act and procedure before the federal education act is enacted, The federation has stated that it has demanded to repeal the impractical and request-driven procedure.

Similarly, the teachers' quota of relief, former higher secondary and children's classes will be converted into sanctioned posts and permanent service will be provided to the temporary and contract teachers who have not been able to appear in the internal examination due to various reasons. To provide an opportunity to participate in the internal competition without any age solution through the commission, to arrange one level periodical promotion for permanent teachers every 10 years, to calculate the pension of permanent teachers and all temporary periods for promotion purposes, to provide salary allowance to institutional school teachers like community school teachers. To do this, there is a demand for the provision of teacher hospitals at the central and provincial levels for the treatment of teachers and staff.

To make arrangements for hiring a certain number of teachers in the same level of posts in the Government of Nepal, State Government, and local level educational administration, to maintain equality in salaries, allowances, and grades between the same level of civil service and permanent teachers. It is mentioned in the demand letter of the federation.
