Local Government Is Active During COVID-19 Pandemic

May 8, Kathmandu- After the corona took the form of a pandemic, the local levels have become active in controlling it. As the infection intensifies in Karnali, the local level is engaged in its prevention and treatment of the infected. The locals have started preparing hospital and isolation on their own after the infected people could not get hospital beds.

In Karnali, most of them are infected in Birendranagar. The Birendranagar Municipality has brought its own Corona Hospital into operation as the death rate has also increased and there are no beds in the hospital. Most of the infected people are in home isolation as the state hospital in Surkhet is full of infected people. The municipality has brought its own Corona Hospital into operation from Friday after the infected died due to lack of beds and oxygen.

"The infection is on the rise. Most of the infected are forced to live in home isolation," said Mohan Maya Dhakal, deputy chief of Virendranagar. A 25-bed hospital has been brought into operation. As the number of infected people increases, it will be made 50 beds. At present, two doctors and health workers have been provided for the treatment of the infected people in the city. The municipality expects to be comfortable in the treatment of the infected as soon as it operates its own hospital.

As the number of infections increases, government hospitals are no longer able to cope. This is the reason why the local level has started preparing isolation with hospital and oxygen. The Vangadkupinde Municipality of Salyan has also prepared a 15-bed isolation with oxygen. Five cylinders of oxygen are placed in the isolation. Mayor Govinda Pun said that they are engaged in the treatment of the infected and controlling the epidemic to make the citizens feel that the local government is in the courtyard.

Kavindra Kumar KC, chairman of the village municipality, said that a 50-bed isolation with oxygen has been set up at the local Bajedichaur health post. "People are returning to the village from India. There is a fear of an epidemic," said Chairman KC. "There is no possibility of getting a bed in the hospital. Has been prepared
