City Hall inaugurated by the Prime Minister on May 14

May 8, Kathmandu - Urban Development Minister Prabhu Shah has inspected Nepal's largest conference hall "City Hall" under construction at Godavari in Lalitpur.

Minister Shah inspected the city hall, which is scheduled to be inaugurated by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli a year later. Minister Shah inspected the City Hall along with the staff of the Ministry and Special Building Construction Project Coordination Office. During the inspection, the officials of the Special Building Construction Project Coordination Office briefed the Minister about the progress of the building construction.

The construction agreement was signed on November 7, 2008. The deadline for completion of the building was extended till mid-April. The physical structure of the city building, built on an area of ​​43 ropanis and 15 annas in Godavari Municipality Ward No. 3, has only 11 ropanis and 13 annas. An area of ​​3 ropanis has been set aside for internal roads, 16 ropanis for 2 acres of garden and greenery and 13 ropanis for parking and other works. Sound-absorbing, earthquake-resistant So City Hall will be able to hold meetings with at least 3,000 participants. Two VVIP rooms have been set up inside the building. After inspecting the project, Secretary of the Ministry of Urban Development E. Ramesh Prasad Singh informed that the project will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister on April 13 as 99 percent work of the project has been completed.

He also informed that it has been named as Godavari Sunshine as it is made in the shape of the rising sun. The construction contract amount of the project contracted by KC Parallel JV Kathmandu is Rs. 657.487 million. The internal road construction, garden and greenery infrastructure, chairs, hall decoration and other works are yet to be completed. City Hall is 15.08 kilometers from the international airport and 9.5 kilometers from the roundabout.
