More than four lakh infected in India in last 24 hours

May 8, Kathmandu - India, which is facing a second wave of corona virus epidemics, has found four lakh new cases in the last 24 hours. Including this, the total number of infected people in India has reached 21.8 million. For the third day in a row, more than four lakh people have been infected in India.

According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, an additional 4,187 people have died of Covid-19 infection in the last 24 hours. Including this, the total number of deaths due to covid infection in India has reached two lakh 38 thousand 270. India currently has the third highest number of deaths from covid-19 infection in the world after the United States and Brazil. The death toll in the United States has risen to 594,000 and in Brazil to 419,000.

The Indian government has said it will not carry out a nationwide crackdown even if public life in India is disrupted by the second wave of covid-19. In some Indian states, night curfews or partial lockouts have been imposed. The capital, New Delhi, has been shut down till May 10.

A nationwide vaccination campaign was launched in January and so far about 167.4 million people in India have been vaccinated with Covid-19. A vaccination campaign has been started for people above 18 years of age from May 1.

Meanwhile, 300 million samples of Covid-19 have been tested in India till Thursday. According to the Health Research Council of India, 1.8 million samples were tested on the same day on Friday
